Dutch prosecutors have confirmed that three more individuals died after consuming drugs purchased through the Netherlands-based Funcaps website, raising the total fatalities linked to the online pharmacy to six. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) revealed today that toxicology reports have established a direct connection between pills ordered via Funcaps and the untimely deaths of these additional users.
The expanded death toll follows a year-long investigation into the platform’s activities, which began after health authorities flagged a cluster of overdose cases among young adults. All victims had ordered sedatives or opioid-based capsules from Funcaps without valid prescriptions, believing they were receiving legitimate pharmaceuticals.

Families of the victims have urged stricter controls on online drug marketplaces and faster international cooperation to shut down similar operations. Prosecutors are seeking substantial prison terms for the accused and warn that the investigation remains open, as further victims may yet emerge. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies across Europe have stepped up efforts to trace and block illicit pharmaceutical websites operating from within the EU.
